CCGA BoatDo you love boating but don't have a boat?

RCM-SAR Station #37 is always looking for new members to join their team. You don't need any previous experience, just a willingness to learn, must work well with others and have a passion to help fellow boaters in need.

The Sooke Coast Guard Auxiliary will give you all the skills and training you need to effectively become a crew member and to be a part of this team.

Crew sitting on the Spirit of SookeThe Royal Canadian Marine Search and Rescue includes over 1000 volunteers throughout British Columbia who offer their time and commitment to actively provide search and rescue (SAR) services. These volunteers participate in resolving nearly one third of the SAR incidents that occur on the BC coast, either as the principal resource, or as an additional response unit. Their area includes more than 29,500 square kilometers of coastline, 6,500 islands, and approximately 450,000 square kilometers of internal and offshore waters.

It is a challenge to provide SAR response capability to such a large area, and our volunteers meet the challenge with determination and professionalism. RCM-SAR provides marine SAR resources which are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If necessary, our volunteers are willing and ready to risk their lives to help anyone in distress on the water.
