Tides and Weather around Sooke

Sheringham LighthouseSooke boasts a very moderate climate with dry, warm summers, and rainy, but very mild winters. While the west coast is infamous for its damp, dreary and drizzly winters, the Greater Victoria Area is in truth not as rainy as commonly believed. In fact, both Vancouver and Seattle get twice as much annual rainfall! The region also claims Canada’s mildest climate because the proximate Pacific Ocean maintains a constant temperature of 10 degrees Celsius (50 degrees F), and the surrounding mountains create an additional weather protection. Prevailing westerly ocean winds provide a buffer to warmer summer and cooler winter temperatures.

Sooke also has very strong tides and currents as well as winds in our area of operation. It's very important for people heading out on the water to ensure that they are aware of what the weather and tides are doing to ensure their saftey, their passengers safety and the safety of their vessel. Below are a couple of links that can help assist you with your planning before you head out on the water.
